5 March 2010

“From electric wireline, slickline, and hydraulic workovers to numerous coiled tubing applications, this conference and exhibition delivers the most innovative technology from around the world,” tells the official press-release of the SPE/ICoTA Coiled Tubing and Well Intervention (CTWI) Conference and Exhibition 2010 and Coiled Tubing Times knows what it is all about since members of the editorial staff are regular participants of the event and, being keen enthusiasts of innovative technologies, are committed to delivering the latest news from this professional forum as it is by far the most important annual event in the world of coiled tubing and well intervention.

While the time – early spring, and the venue – the Woodlands, Texas remains the same from year to year, the schedule of events is always somehow remarkable. The highlights of this year are the training course “Coiled Tubing and Its Applications” conducted by Ed Smalley, NOV CTES and the keynote luncheon where Collin Gerry will deliver a speech with a very intriguing title: “Energy Outlook: Oil Looks Solid, Gas Questionable.”

The Conference is renowned for its rich technical program.This year the technical sessions will feature papers devoted to such issues as:

    • IMPROVING OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY: intervention operations that increase efficiency and methods and tools that can used to improve operations;
    • FRACTURING AND STIMULATION: new coiled-tubing applications, downhole tools, and data gathering technologies that enable enhanced stimulation and isolation techniques in challenging horizontal wellbores.
    • INNOVATIVE INTERVENTION SOLUTIONS: Presenters will share the knowledge learned from applying innovative technology in a variety of downhole applications.
    • SUBSEA INTERVENTIONS: developments in subsea well-intervention domain including innovative system technologies, latest equipment designs and recent successful technology applications.
    • MATERIAL, PERFORMANCE, AND BEHAVIOR: issues surrounding the erosion and corrosion of coiled tubing and casing and hear a review of the performance and capabilities of coiled tubing with enhanced material properties.

The two-day technical program encompasses more than 40 paper and presentations, delivered by representatives of such companies as BJ Services, ConocoPhillips, Halliburton, Shell, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Welltonic, National Oilwell Varco, Weatherford and others.

The Exhibition provides all participants a unique blend of industry knowledge and expertise. The participating companies have opportunities to showcase their products and services while independent participants have a chance to get first-hand experience of this unique event and feel the thrill of being part of this global professional community, uniting people who represent all sectors within the industry.

The Coiled Tubing Times Journal will also be there. Editorial staff members are now preparing for a challenging, yet exciting trip. We will travel all the way to the United States to ensure that our readers get the most reliable information on what is going on in the world of coiled tubing and well intervention!
