Rosneft Begins Unique Geological Research on the Eastern Arctic Shelf

The Rosneft research expedition started from Murmansk. The drilling vessel Bavenit is heading to the Laptev Sea to drill shallow stratigraphic wells in the Eastern Arctic and take cores for scientific work for the first time in history. The valuable stone material will be a direct source of geological information required to determine the age (stratification), composition, and formation conditions of sedimentary rocks in the studied shelf region. As a result of the expedition, scientists expect to build a reliable geological model of the region and estimate its oil and gas potential. Read more

Coiled Tubing Has Set New Benchmarks for Multistage Fracturing in Poorly Consolidated Terrigenous Reservoirs

Today, when most reservoirs have low productivity, the question of whether multistage hydraulic fracturing can be applied in wells with complex geology becomes very important. An outstanding example of multistage hydraulic fracturing using coiled tubing was a project in Messoyakha oil, gas and condensate field where multistage fracturing was successfully performed for stimulation of production of hard-to-recover heavy oil in poorly consolidated reservoirs at shallow depths and low temperature. Read more
