European Chapter Innovation Award

This award is presented annually by the Intervention & Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) European Chapter in support of its mission: To enhance communication, gather technical expertise and promote safety, competency and industry accepted practices.

The winner will be announced at the SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Seminar in Aberdeen on 12th & 13th November 2014, where they will be presented with a perpetual trophy and a small award to retain.

The winner’s success in pushing forward the boundaries of well intervention and coiled tubing technology will be publicised at the SPE ICoTA Seminar as well as through ICoTA and to the wider industry.


Aim of the ICoTA European Chapter Innovation Award

To recognise a service company or operator for the application of technical innovation in the area of well intervention.

  • Judges

Entries will be judged by the Committee of ICoTA European Chapter.
Finalists will be requested to make a short presentation to the judging committee.

  • Judging Criteria and Guidelines for Entries

1. Technology – either new technology or existing technology used in an innovative way
2. Application – where is the innovation being applied and what does it do?
3. Value to the industry – why did you use this technology? What benefit did your customer realise from this technology? For example, to reduce risk, increase recovery, improve safety, minimise environmental impact.

  • Conditions for Award

a) Developed in Europe and applied elsewhere, or
b) Developed elsewhere and applied for the first time in Europe

  • The technology must have been applied for the first time since 31st March 2013
  • The award may be presented for a variation of a theme rather than an entirely new technology
  • The award may recognise the general nurturing of new technology rather than a single project.
