A technology of multi-stage fracturing was successfully mastered by Lukoil-Western Siberia

Lukoil-Western Siberia is the first company in Russia that successfully performed multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in a horizontal wellbore completed with cemented liner using a unique “AbrasiFRAC” technology, which allows to perform jet perforation and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in one trip. It was designed by specialists of Schlumberger, the Agency of oil and gas information reports.

This technology involves performing of jet perforation through coiled tubing with subsequent hydraulic fracturing in one trip. The technology "AbrasiFRAC" eliminates the need in packers and fracturing string, reduces the average time of well completion and accelerates its placing on production. It also increases the extraction of hydrocarbons from the formation.

The pilot project was implemented by West Siberian oilmen with the support of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), together with the specialists of Schlumberger and contracting company Petro Alliance, at the Tevlinsko-Russkinskoe oilfield operated by the Society.

Today, five wells, which were completed in accordance with "AbrasiFRAC" technology, are on their operation at Povkhovskoe, Nong-Eganskoe, Tevlinsko-Russkinskoe and Urjevskoe oilfields. On the average, daily production rate of these wells increased twofold. West Siberian oilmen plan to use the successfully mastered technology at other commercial facilities of the Society as well, the LUKOIL-Western Siberia’s press centre reported.
