Belorusneft achieved a new record of drilling depth.

Now it is 5,625 m. The new record was fixed at the first ultra-deep parametric well No. 1 “Predrechickaya” on August 27. The record authorship belongs to Sergey Bolshakov’s crew operating Bentec drilling rig.

Today, the 5,625 m mark is the absolute record of deepening in Belarusian history, still not the final one, as we believe. Drilling at well No. 1 “Predrechickaya” is going on. And, according to the project, its final depth should be 6,680 m. We expect this well to be not only the deepest in Belarus, but also the deepest in CIS countries. Russia does have wells of such depth, but those are horizontal, while well No. 1 “Predrechickaya” is a directional well with an angle of deviation of 470 m.

Drilling at well No. 1 “Predrechickaya” was started in order to find hydrocarbon deposits within inter-salt complex sediments and to assess oil-and-gas-bearing capacity perspectives of subsalt and upper-proterozoic complexes within the Predrechickaya inter-salt trap.

Now, concerning the previous record. Until quite recently, the well No. 9001r “Geological” ranked as the deepest in Belarus. Its “deep” record was 5,573 meters. This mark was achieved on August 24, 2008, and held out for 6 years and 3 days.

Belorusneft is a state-owned vertically integrated petroleum company. It is a top performer of the fuel and energy complex of the Republic of Belarus, established in 1966.
