Alnas plant (part of Rimera Group) has successfully completed the field trial of a high-capacity ESP at Sovetskoye Field. The time between failures was 1,886 days, which 3.5 times as long as the maximum time for previous units.

As part of the unit, a corrosion-resistant pump (cluster-type build, series 054, size 6, capacity: 1,000 m3/day) designed for difficult well stock, was tested. The pump unit worked away 1,886 days in the normal operation mode, maintaining the technical and power-supply parameters. It raised no criticism during the operation.

The high durability and wear resistance of Alnas equipment has been ensured by the cluster-type assembly method and use of dedicated materials designed for hydroabrasive environment: the pumping stages are made of high-durability Ni-resist cast iron; the thrust bearings are made of wear-resistant ceramics - silicon carbide; the shaft has an enhanced radial stiffness reducing vibration and increasing the wear resistance of the bearings and entire pump. Therefore, the pump unit design accommodates the consumer demand for reliability.

“This product is meant to address the issue of wear resistance enhancement faced by machinery operating in difficult wells. Since 2012, the pump has been in batch production. Despite such a long time between failures, our engineers have constantly been improving the design of the pump to meet oil companies’ requirements”, says Sergey Sibirev, Director of Rimera Group’s R&D Center.
