FMC Technologies signs equipment supply contract with Petrobras
03.04.2012
FMC Technologies, a provider of technology solutions for the energy industry, has entered into a four-year contract with Brazil's state-controlled oil company Petrobras to supply pre-salt subsea equipment.
The total award would result in around $1.5bn in revenue to FMC if all of the subsea equipment included in the agreement is ordered.
FMC senior vice president Subsea Technologies Tore Halvorsen said the company has made significant investments in its Brazilian operations to allow for large scale product manufacturing and the development of new technologies.
"Petrobras has awarded more than 500 subsea trees to our operations in Brazil over the past 30 years and we are pleased to support them in developing their pre-salt reservoirs," said Halvorsen.
The total scope of the work includes the delivery of to 130 subsea trees, which will be used in water depths of up to 8,200ft, subsea multiplex controls and related tools and equipment.
The equipment will be engineered at FMC's South American technology centre and manufactured at FMC's subsea facility, both in Rio de Janeiro.
Delivery of the equipment is scheduled to start in 2014, with the subsea trees built using 70% of local Brazilian content.
