Gazprom Neft Badra, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, has begun trial shipments of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to Iraq’s state-owned Gas Filling Company. All equipment at the gas plant that is currently being built at the Badra field, Iraq, is now undergoing performance testing.

As part of the comprehensive testing of equipment at the gas plant, gas is also being sent to the Az-Zubaydiyah power station, located some 100 kilometres from the field. The modern gas production complex built by Gazprom Neft in Iraq will significantly increase electricity production in the Republic of Iraq, and will play a major role in ensuring stable power supplies for several provinces in the country. The plant is expected to go into commercial production in Q4 2017, and will be able to process 1.6 billion cubic metres of gas per year. Utilisation of associated petroleum gas (APG) is expected to reach 99 percent, in the long term. The gas plant project also includes construction of a granulated sulphur production facility.

Commercial gas produced at the plant will be used for production purposes, as fuel for the gas-turbine power plant (GTPP). Ten megawatts (10 MW) of electric power will, in the future, be sent to the Gazprom Neft Badra residential complex and the town of Badra , by overhead power line. The total planned capacity of the five generators at the GTPP is 123.5 MW.
