Gazpromneft-Orenburg has secured the subsoil usage rights to the Novozarinskoe field in the Orenburg Oblast, with a licence for exploration and development being issued by the Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency (Rosgeo) in May this year.

The Novozarinskoye field covers the Orenburg Oblast’s Novosergievsky and Sorochinsky Districts. The field, which has reserves in place comprising more than 11 million tonnes of oil, was discovered in 2017 at the Uransky licence block. In addition to the Novozarinskoye field, the Novosamarskoye field was also discovered here in 2016: both fields having been designated independent licence blocks for oil and gas exploration and development.

According to Gazprom Neft specialists, a series of small fields are located at the Uransky block, which the company plans to develop and bring into production in the next few years.

Andrey Shoshin, Chief Geologist at Gazpromneft-Orenburg, commented: «Discovering a field close to the developed Baleikinskoye asset means we can create a new oil production cluster. Using common pre-existing infrastructure creates synergies, helping shorten lead times and costs in field development — making oil production still more effective for the business».
