Halliburton Acquires Leading Analytics Software Platform
29.08.2013
Halliburton’s Landmark Software and Services business line has acquired UReason Solution Environment (USE) for real-time analytics. The USE software platform combined with Landmark’s existing drilling software will enable operators to capture, process, and interpret high speed data that will help them to better understand the cause and effect of drilling system behaviors and allow them to make real-time adjustments while drilling.
For example, the software can help determine the likelihood of stuck pipe by comparing real-time data to historical data. The operator can then analyze the circumstances surrounding the stuck pipe and take preventive action to avoid future occurrences.
“As a result of this acquisition, Halliburton will be able to provide customers with the ability to analyze large volumes of both real-time and historic well data in multiple scenarios,” said Gene Minnich, Vice President of Landmark Software and Services. “With this knowledge, oil and gas producers can make better decisions when responding to changing drilling conditions, leading to improved efficiency and reduced non-productive time.”
Founded in 1919, Halliburton is one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. With more than 75,000 employees, representing 140 nationalities in approximately 80 countries, the company serves the upstream oil and gas industry throughout the lifecycle of the reservoir.
