Hydraulic fracturing operations performed at Novoportovskoe field were the first on the Yamal Peninsula
A number of hydraulic fracturing operations were performed at Novoportovskoe field (Yamal Peninsula). The operations were carried out in Jurassic sediments that are characterized by severe geological complexity.
A total of five hydraulic fracturing operations were performed in four wells of different profile. Singlestage fracs were carried out in vertical wells, while a horizontal well was fracked using multistage stimulation technique.
After the post-frac stimulation of wells was finished, their combined daily average flow rate was found to be 2.5 times higher than it was expected. All fracked wells are flowing naturally.
Alongside this, in April drilling crews started operations at the first out of three wells planned to be drilled on the second cluster pad of Novoportovskoe field.
“We expect substantial advancements in the ongoing analysis of Novoportovskoe field geological structure. In order to estimate the production potential of Novoportovskoe field, we need to assess the results of performed fracking operations and the outcome of drilling activity that has recently started on the second cluster pad. We plan to further apply hydraulic fracturing technologies for development of Jurassic sediments,” said Denis Kashapov, Executive Director of the Novy Port branch of Gazpromneft Razvitiye.
Novoportovskoe oil-gas-condensate field is located in Yamal District of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region, 250 km away from the city of Nadym. The field exploration and production license is held by Gazpromneft Novy Port, LLC, the operator is Gazpromneft. Novoportovskoe field C1 and C2 recoverable reserves are estimated to exceed 230 million tons of oil and 270 bcm of gas.
