While building a new well in the Armadillo oil field in Ecuador, specialists of the Belarusian oil company Belorusneft secured free oil flow to the surface of up to 100 tonnes per day, the company's press service told BelTA.

According to the acquired data, the Belarusian specialists may have tapped into a new oil reservoir. A field research is in progress to determine the reservoir's potential.

It will be the second hydrocarbon reservoir discovered by the Belarusian oil company in Ecuador within one month. In early August while building the Armadillo 2 well in the Volcanica stratum increased gas indications were registered. Geophysical exploration and consequent data confirmed that it was a new reservoir.

Ecuador is the second Latin America country after Venezuela where Belorusneft specialists extract oil. Belorusneft specialists extract oil from block 55 in the Armadillo field in line with the contract signed with the Ecuadorian state oil extraction company Petroamazonas. As part of the contract Belorusneft specialists performed geological exploration using 3D seismic survey data, designed and built engineering communications in compliance with the country's strict environmental laws.

The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
