Dalmorneftegeofizika, JSC (city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the company is a part of Rosgeo State Holding) started the final stage of seismic data interpretation on the underwater margin in East Kamchatka.
The exploration is conducted under the state contract signed in 2017 between the Holding and the Department for Subsoil Use on the continental shelf and the World Ocean of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use. The work is financed from the resources of the federal budget.
The project envisages the exploration of the geological structure and assessment of oil and gas potential of the Kamchatka-Pacific sedimentary basin.
At present, all field work and the processing of obtained results have been completed, and a comprehensive interpretation of geophysical data is in progress. The interpretation is conducted at the modern technical and methodological level at Dalmorneftegeofizika’s Geological Survey in compliance with the approved schedule.
One thousand and one hundred linear km of seismic profiles were interpreted in the second quarter. There have been compiled the preliminary maps of isochron for the roof of acoustic basement and the roof of the Paleogene sediments, temporary seismic and dynamic deep sections. The depth of seismic horizons and the thickness of a sedimentary cover and seismic complexes were estimated in the most part of the area. An information geological report on the work results was prepared during the reporting period. The same amount of work will be performed in the third quarter.
The work under the state contract is to be completed by the end of the year.
The specialists, based on the results of the desk research, will study the geological structure and structure of the sedimentary cover, the regional structural and tectonic plan of the Kamchatka-Pacific basin, find and allocate the areas with potential oil and gas accumulation.
The result of the work will be the localized hydrocarbon resources’ assessment and the recommendations for further stages of geological exploration in order to reproduce the resource base of hydrocarbon raw materials.
