Rosgeo is to perform regional seismic exploration operations in the juncture of the Pre-Ural foredeep south end and Ural fold system in order to validate parametric well locations. The relevant state contract was made between the holding and the Department for Subsoil Use for the Volga Federal District.

Two study areas covering total 2,500 км2 are situated within the Volga-Ural oil and gas province in the Republic of Bashkortostan and Orenburg Region. The survey depth is 10 km.

The project’s main objective is to validate locations of two parametric wells in the land of open subsoil acreage in the juncture of the Pre-Ural foredeep south end and Ural fold system based on regional 2D CMP survey, analysis and generalization of historic geology and geophysics evidence, and integrated geological and geochemical studies.

Specialists will specify more exactly the geological structure of the area, study the stages of its tectonic development, types and location of potential hydrocarbon traps. They will develop the relevant schematic maps, conduct analytical studies of rock material (core, outcrop specimens), study reservoir properties of rocks, develop layouts of reservoirs in Pre-Devonian-Lower Emsian, Upper Emsian-Lower Visean, Visean-Lower Bashkir, Upper Carbonic-Lower Permian, and Upper Permian units. In addition, there will be topographic-geodesic work and 2D CMP survey conducted over 800 linear km, and 100 specimens of rock materials taken.

At the end, it is expected to identify local oil-and-gas-promising objects and evaluate hydrocarbon resources by the Dl category.

It is expected to complete the project by the end of 2020.
