OJSC Severneftegazprom started drilling the next exploration well № R-54 at the Yuzhno-Russkoye oil and gas condensate field. This well is the fourth one under the follow-up exploration project of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field.
Previously, three wells were drilled, two of them completed with construction. As a result, three new hydrocarbon deposits were discovered and additional information on the geological structure of the Lower Cretaceous sediments was obtained.
“The new exploration well will provide additional data on the gas, gas condensate and oil reservoirs discovered in the Lower Cretaceous deposits of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field’s central part”, said General Director of OJSC Severneftegazprom Stanislav Tsygankov.
The projected well horizon – AT6 formation, with the target depth of 1,810 m (5,938 ft). 200 m (656 ft) of formation core are planned to be collected from the well to study pay zones. The expected increase in recoverable reserves of hydrocarbons with the category C1 as a result of reservoirs tests will amount to more than 5 million tons oil equivalent.
OJSC Severneftegazprom is one of the largest Russian gas producers. Company’s shareholders are OAO Gazprom, Wintershall Holding GmbH and E.ON Exploration & Production GmbH.
