SPD Field 3D Campaign Complete

Salym Petroleum Development has successfully completed the winter phase of 3D seismic work within the Upper Salym field. This phase ends the field part of the large-scale 3D seismic program executed by SPD in 2009-2013 within a territory with total area of 1,700+ sq. km (655+ sq. miles).

Salym Petroleum Development, jointly with its contractor Integra Geophysica, has completed the winter phase of 3D seismic work within a territory of 500 sq. km (193 sq. miles) on the Upper Salym field.

In the course of the winter campaign, Integra-Geophysica has demonstrated an example of efficient and safe work. The scheduled actions have been closed out ahead of the plan. The total number of shotholes drilled exceeded 25 thousand. Although this type of work is regarded as especially hazardous, not a single one of 200+ persons involved in the project was hurt or injured. Thanks to responsible attitude towards safety rules, the company has worked nearly 450 thousand hours LTI-free.

The completion of the winter work on the Upper Salym field ends the field work performance phase within the entire Salym group of fields, which was started in 2009. Within the preceding winter seasons, field work was performed on the West Salym and Vadelyp fields.

3D seismic performance is the prerequisite for the successful completion of SPD’s Grow New Oil program. As a result of interpretation and analysis of the information obtained in the course of seismic work, SPD will optimize oil deposit development actions, including definition of new drilling sites and performing additional exploration work.
