SPD Took Part in VII International IT Forum

The VII International IT Forum with the participation of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Khanty-Mansiysk on July 6-7. SPD took part in the Forum and the ‘Information Technology for All’ exhibition within the framework of the Forum.
The main purpose of the Forum was to create conditions for the development and implementation of best IT practices in BRICS and SCO countries in various fields, including mineral extraction industries and the fuel and energy complex. The event brought together experts from 35 countries and about three dozen regions of Russia. Nikolay Nikiforov, the Russian Minister of Media and Communications, Igor Kholmanskikh, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Urals Federal District, and Igor Schegolev, aide to the Russian President, participated as honorary guests of the forum.
SPD took part in the Information Technology in the Minerals Extraction Industry round table, sharing its experience of using information technologies in energy projects. Egor Ulyanov, Head of Information Integration Projects, presented the company’s Mayak program to improve the quality and availability of data. Andrew Mabian, Deputy Operations Manager, told the round table about the company’s Smart Field technology – SPD was the first company in Russia to fit out all of its wells with this remote monitoring and control system.
A specialized exhibition Information Technologies for All took place within the framework of the IT Forum. Addressing its opening ceremony, Yakov Volokitin, SPD Petroleum Engineering Manager, said that the IT Forum was a “unique and effective venue to promote cooperation, exchange experience and learn advanced information technologies in various areas of business”. He also said that Salym Petroleum was always interested in innovative technologies offered by the Russian and international IT industries and was active in applying the best IT technologies and developments to improve its business in all areas, including field development and production, geological studies, safety and environmental protection.
The Information Technology for All exhibition featured SPD’s futuristic stand, and its centerpiece, a unique panoramic cinema. Inside, visitors were offered a 360o movie about chemical flooding based on ASP chemical mix and the way the technology is being used at the Salym group of fields. The guests were entertained by an android dance show and a trio of extraterrestrial girls in fluorescent attire. The stand was visited by honorary guests and participants, including the acting Governor of KHMAO – Yugra Natalya Komarova, the Russian Minister of Media and Communications Nikolay Nikiforov and presidential aide Igor Shegolev. SPD stand and performance was one of the main highlights of the exhibition.
The stand was also used as a venue for master classes, where Andrew Mabian, Deputy Operations Manager, and Volodimir Karpan, Reservoir Engineer, told the geology students of the Institute of Nature Use of the Yugra State University about the company’s smart field project and ASP chemical flooding method of tertiary recovery.
Summing up the results of the IT Forum with the participation of BRICS and SCO, acting Governor Natalya Komarova said that those two days brought together the potential and possibilities of information societies from various regions and companies, creating a unique pool of skills and knowledge. The forum involved more than 20 strategy sessions, round tables and master classes, which came up with more than 100 recommendations. Many of those formed the basis of the final communiqué of the Yugra forum, which contains many new ideas focusing on integration and further development of smart regions in Russia, the BRICS and SCO countries.
