STEP Takes Possession Of Second Coiled Tubing Mast Unit

STEP Energy Services reports it took possession in July of its second coiled tubing mast unit.

After yard qualification and testing, the company immediately deployed the rig along with its pumping services to a location west of Dawson Creek for one of the industry’s largest exploration and production companies.

Currently, both of STEP’s purpose-built coiled tubing mast units are operating in the field with 4,500 metres of 73 millimetre and 5,200 metres of 66.7 millimetre of coiled tubing, respectively.

“We consider it a great accomplishment to develop rigs capable of deploying the largest coiled tubing in Western Canada,” president Bailey Epp said in a news release. “Our clients are experiencing reduced milling times and increased operating efficiencies with their extended reach wells.”

In the coming months STEP said it will continue to oversee the manufacture of the remaining 10 coiled tubing units.

“We are very encouraged by the response of our clients to STEP’s business plan and service model,” said COO Steve Glanville. “These early results validate the success of our vision at STEP. We are driven to have engaged employees, execute on our commitments and to exceed the expectations of our clients.”

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, STEP Energy Services is a privately owned, technically focused, oilfield service company providing specialized coiled tubing units and associated pumping and support equipment to service the horizontal well market in Western Canada.
