TMK Provides Pipes and Services for Orenburgneft’s Hydraulic Fracturing Project

TMK, one of the world’s leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has provided tubing with premium connections TMK FMT and related services for the hydraulic fracturing project at the Davydovskoye oilfield operated by Orenburgneft, a Rosneft subsidiary. The fracturing operations will be managed by Schlumberger.

For the first time in Russia, TMK’s premium products are engaged in hydraulic fracturing activities, which require pipes of high performance in terms of strength and structural integrity. The use of these premium pipes secures gas and oil tightness of the pipe string and therefore ensures efficient and safe performing of hydraulic fracturing operations.

According to the contract signed with Orenburgneft, TMK has provided 3.5 in. tubing pipes and the corresponding couplings of P110 strength group with TMK FMT premium connections for the hydraulic fracturing project at the Davydovskoye oilfield. Tubing pipes and couplings have been manufactured by Sinarskiy tube plant and TMK-Kaztubprom and are designed especially for multiple use during fracturing operations. The operations will be performed in 5 wells of Davydovskoye oilfield as specified by the Contract. Servicing team of TMK NGS-Buzuluk will be responsible for the landing of tubing string.

The above-mentioned team has already performed landing operations in 2 wells with depths exceeding 13,120 ft. In order to make-up the tubing string as many as 460 pipes have been used. Adherence to all necessary specifications provided for tubing string integrity and allowed to perform frac jobs. The maximum pressure achieved during hydraulic fracturing with application of aqueous gel and proppant exceeded 11,750 psi. The third well is currently being prepared for similar fracturing operation.

“The high quality of our pipes and our multifaceted approach to customer service enable us to participate in complex projects involving state-of-the-art technology and exclusive standards of equipment and services,” says Sergei Bilan, Vice President for Premium Products and Services, TMK. “Our successful track record including the Company’s experience in North America is a solid base for enhancing our cooperation with partners in various areas, including unconventional methods of hydrocarbon production.”
