This spring, Weatherford, LLC, a subsidiary of Weatherford International plc, successfully executed the hydraulic fracture mapping of three horizontal wells. The wells are part of a microseismic frac-monitoring program in Western Siberia’s oilfields.
In one well, Weatherford monitored the eight-stage fracturing. To gain maximum coverage and data accuracy, Weatherford deployed highly sensitive microseismic monitoring tools in two observation wells simultaneously. This was the first time this method had been applied in Russia.
The large amount of data collected by the tools in both wells enabled Weatherford borehole seismic specialists to determine the parameters of induced fractures and identify considerable asymmetry of fractures. It is expected that all gathered data will be used as a part of complex production optimization program for Western Siberia’s fields.
Weatherford is one of the largest multinational oilfield service companies providing innovative solutions, technology and services to the oil and gas industry. The Company operates in over 100 countries and has a network of approximately 1,100 locations, including manufacturing, service, research and development, and training facilities.
