The specialists developed, and successfully tested a new method of tracer studies of the formation. It is based on the use of alcohol indicators, which play the role of marker substances. The results of such studies help determine the filtration flows in the reservoir and assess the effectiveness of geological and technical measures.

In the Belorusneft for more than 40 years, actively used 4 types of indicators. But in the background samples, indicators that were left over from previous work were found, therefore the effectiveness of the method decreased. At BelNIPIneft, six new marker substances were developed and tested, based on monohydric alcohols, which increased the accuracy of the studies.

To implement the technology, BelNIPIneft also developed a new method for quantitative analysis of well samples. It is characterized by high sensitivity, and allows one to selectively determine all types of alcohol indicators simultaneously present in the analyzed sample. Thus, the measurement process is simplified and automated.

The technology of tracing reservoir studies with the use of alcohol indicators was successfully tested on the Zadonskoye deposit of the Rechitsa field. This invention allowed to expand the possibilities of studying the geological structure of deposits, increase reliability of the information received and to reduce the costs of its implementation.
