Columbia Industries, the industry leader in the design, engineering and manufacturing of custom rig moving systems, has announced that their new, revolutionary rig moving system Atlas has been delivered to a new customer for an island drilling project in the Middle East.

 

The Atlas Rig Walking System is an innovative custom design for a desert rig moving system. Columbia has developed a unique hybrid technology of wheels and walkers to maximize the capability of the Rig Walking System.

 

The wheels offer efficiency over longer distances between drilling pads, with the flexibility to change to the walkers between individual well sites. This patented combination of the two systems increases the capability of the moving system and enables one compact solution for multi-pad drilling operations.

 

This increases the customer’s efficiency and flexibility of use for the equipment. The Atlas Rig Walking System is only one of many new, more efficient solutions engineered by Columbia in the past six months.
