Halliburton Rolls Out Next Generation High-Pressure Pumping Technology
04.04.2012
Halliburton rolled out the first production unit of its new Q10™ pumping trailer at its manufacturing facility in Duncan, Oklahoma. The new Q10 pump, the heart of the pumping unit, is a complete redesign, focused toward providing significantly enhanced performance while reducing total pumping assets at the well-site.
It is the most versatile pump ever produced by Halliburton and engineering innovations have resulted in the Q10 pumping unit providing unprecedented performance and reliability for demanding applications like shale fracturing. The pumping unit includes the following specifications:
Mono-block fluid ends to handle the demanding duty cycle required for shale fracturing. Testing and modeling have indicated that under identical conditions, the Q10 pump provides up to 14 times the fluid end life of other commercially available pumps.
In-line five-cylinder (quintuplex) design, which provides maximum durability and contributes to enhanced fluid delivery.
Performance specifications include a maximum pressure rating of 20,000 pounds per square inch, a range of rates between 2.7 and 18.9 barrels per minute, and a power rating of 2000 hydraulic horsepower.
Today’s shale fracturing treatments have stretched the abilities of conventional pumping systems to their limits. The requisite high pressures and rates are resulting in more frequent equipment maintenance and repair. Repairs that are necessary during a treatment cause nonproductive time. The Q10 unit has been designed to meet today’s pumping challenges and help make overall fracturing operations more efficient. Its advanced design helps to reduce nonproductive time during fracturing treatments.
