Rosneft as part of the international consortium Sakhalin-1 began drilling the first production well by the unique ground-based drilling rig Krechet. The well will be drilled in the second stage of Odoptu-Sea field development.

The ground-based drilling rig Krechet is designed specifically for drilling wells with a large offset from the vertical. The rig has unique characteristics – it can work in difficult climatic conditions (at temperatures below -40°C and in seismically active zones).

The rig consists of three sections: a drilling rig with a rail base, a drilling mud preparation and treatment unit and a pipe shop. The total weight of the rig is about 7000 tons, the height is almost 70 meters, the top drive power is 2700 hp. The rig is capable of drilling wells with a length of about 13 kilometers.

The construction of the Krechet drilling rig is very similar to the Yastreb drilling rig, which has set a number of industry records for drilling wells with the largest depth in the trunk at Sakhalin-1 project. The increased mobility of Krechet allows to use it for the drilling of Odoptu-Sea field

The deposit produces high-quality SOKOL oil with low sulfur content. After preparation at the Chayvo Coastal Complex, the oil arrives at De-Kastri terminal in the Khabarovsk Krai for delivery by oil tankers to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
