PJSC LUKOIL has introduced in the Perm region a Russian-designed innovative technology to increase production of hydrocarbons in the Kama river area.

A wireline rod unit was designed jointly by the Company, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and Russian manufacturing plant Elkam-Neftemash. A wire of special design used as a string of rods is installed at points where the drift angle increases most heavily, allows for operating wells with small-diameter sidetracks where using standard equipment is difficult and thus provides for oil production increase by up to 30% from each well.

16 such units were introduced in the Perm region in 2014-2015. 5 more wells will be put in operation in 2016 equipped with wireline rod units. In the Perm region only, this unique technology can potentially be used in more than 500 wells.

LUKOIL is one of the largest oil & gas vertical integrated companies in the world accounting for over 2% of crude production and circa 1% of proved hydrocarbon reserves globally. LUKOIL enjoys a full production cycle to control the entire value chain from upstream to downstream. LUKOIL employs over 110 thousand people who join their efforts and talents to secure the Company’s market leadership.
