NCS Oilfield Services Adds Magnetic Bull Nose To Frac System

NCS Oilfield Services, an independent technology and services company specializing in multistage completions, has announced the availability of a new Magnetic Bull Nose, a new downhole component of NCS fracture completion systems. The device fastens to the NCS Mongoose bottomhole assembly (BHA) and picks up metal debris and loose filings from the wellbore, preventing them from entering the BHA and causing costly damage.

The Magnetic Bull Nose is magnetized with 24 powerful magnets, producing seven inches of active magnetic field, and because the design incorporates a long-life centralizer with carbide inserts, no redress is necessary.

“With the addition of the Magnetic Bull Nose, NCS Multistage Unlimited Technology continues to differentiate itself as the industry’s most efficient, safe and economical alternative to traditional frac systems. Conventional methods often bullhead fluids and debris down the casing,” said Eric Schmelzl, vice-president of Strategic Business at NCS Oilfield Services. “Using this new tool, our customers are able to proactively deal with unexpected metallic wellbore debris and reduce both operational risks and associated costs.”

The Magnetic Bull Nose may be used with the full range of NCS’s Mongoose tool strings.

NCS Oilfield Services currently offers its Multistage Unlimited systems in Canada, the United States, Australia, Russia, Argentina and China. The company has a record of more than 3,000 multistage completions, successfully placing over 470,000 tons of proppant. The company’s proprietary Multistage Unlimited technology eliminates perforating, plus, balls and baffles, and incorporates coiled tubing to deliver advantages not available from ordinary methods.
