New Patented Dissolvable Frac Ball Technology Increases Well Completion Efficiency

With oil and gas margins being squeezed from every angle, the pressure to control costs and find efficiencies is greater than ever. The Magnum Fastball responds to these demanding oilfield conditions by eliminating the need for expensive, time-consuming drill-outs and well interventions to improve operators' well completion efficiency.

"Operators are always interested in ways to save time and money, and interest is high in the Magnum Fastball," said Garrett Frazier, director of marketing and sales at Magnum Oil Tools.

Made of patented materials, the Magnum Fastball eliminates the need for drill-outs by dissolving on its own at a predictable rate with just temperature. By bypassing the need for drill-outs, the Magnum Fastball also eliminates the risk of events that would require well interventions like stuck frac balls or loose frac ball fragments.

Magnum's dissolvable frac balls work anywhere sliding sleeve systems or composite frac plugs are effective and offer a predictable dissolution period under heat, after which, hydrocarbons can flow freely between the formation and the wellbore.

"Our customers have run thousands of these, and the result is always the same – more efficient well completions," said Garrett Frazier.

The Magnum Fastball has high compressive strength capabilities, a 1.5 specific gravity and is available in sizes from 0.75 inches to 4.625 inches in 1/16th-inch increments with custom sizes available upon request.

The Magnum Fastball's patented chemical composition prevents lodging in the ball seat, and is 100 per cent environmentally safe. With new locations opening and a recently expanded manufacturing facility, Magnum is prepared to deliver its dissolvable frac balls quickly to every major play.

"This technology is a game changer when it comes to completing wells," said Lynn Frazier, Magnum Oil Tools' founder and CEO. "You don't want to be left behind while your competitors are cutting well completion time and costs."
