The technology of Tatneft, JSC "System for controlled liquid extraction from the sections of a horizontal wellbore without stopping the well operation process" took the second place at the XVth International specialized exhibition "Energy. Resource Saving" in the category "Equipment and technology, which implementation allows reducing operational costs of fuel and energy resources and materials and/or reducing the harmful impact on the environment throughout the life cycle".
The technology developed by the experts of TatNIPIneft is applied in horizontal and deviated wells for both individual and dual operation of reservoir areas with different permeability and allows to improve profitability of wells operation by ensuring a more effective flow of oil.
The method is implemented using control devices in the form of electric valves with pressure and temperature measuring sensors, one or more packers shutting off downhole space and pipe subs uniting the reservoir intervals with different oil permeability.
The sensors are linked with the measurement unit at the wellhead, while adjusting devices are connected with the control unit through a cable. The pump for lifting products to the surface through the annulus is placed above the control devices.
The technology expands technological capabilities in the production from horizontal wells by connecting both low permeability and high permeability production intervals through two independent channels. These channels are regulated from the surface through adjusting special production modes, which allows to increase the recovery rate of the well. Moreover, the placement of control devices, transducers and the cable in a vertical wellbore allows to reduce equipment installation costs and increase the quality and reliability of the equipment installation.
The economic effect is achieved through the increase of oil recovery rate and the reduction of water cut.
The technology is being field tested at NGDU Jalilneft of Tatneft, JSC. Horizontal section of the wellbore was divided by the packer into two independent production intervals. Shutting off the far portion allowed to reduce the product water cut by a factor of 5. The works on optimizing dual production modes from separated wellbore portions are currently being continued at the well.
The Russian Federation patent for invention No. 2488686 has been granted for the device and the method of its implementation.
