Rimera and Moscow Aviation Institute to Develop Advanced Pumping Equipment

Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), one of the major Moscow higher educational institutions, and Rimera Group have recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, which points out their intention to jointly develop new high-tech equipment.

According to the Memorandum, specialists of Rimera Group together with experts from MAI will take part in designing and manufacturing of unique working units for electric submersible pumps (ESP) that are produced by Alnas factory (part of Rimera Group) situated in Almetjevsk, The Republic of Tatarstan.

Joint efforts of engineers from Rimera’s R&D center and specialists of MAI have already resulted in development of first prototype models of ESP working units. The units were produced from powder metal using the technology of laser sintering. This advanced technology allows to significantly reduce the time of ESP working units’ production and increase their quality.

Enhanced pump stages with improved pumping and performance characteristics decrease power consumption. In average, the efficiency factor is increased by 10-12%. According to computations made by the experts, this fact can lead to the increase of the overall pumping unit efficiency factor by 7-10%. The energy saving factor will increase in a similar way.

In the nearest future working units will be bench tested by JSC Alnas. In the case of positive test results new development can be commercialized.
