Two assets of Rimera Group - Almetyevsk-based plant Alnas and Izhevsk-based plant Izhneftemash - have started manufacturing equipment for commingled production from multiple reservoir intervals.

In contrast with an arrangement that uses two electrical submersible pump units for developing each interval, the commingled production technology involves using a single pump for production from two oil reservoir intervals with an output that equals the combined flow rate of the two intervals. Unlike similar solutions existing on the market, the design proposed by Rimera Group offers improved efficiency and reliability.

The new unit can be deployed in wells with casing diameters of 146 mm or greater and used in combination with both electric centrifugal pump units and subsurface sucker rod and screw pumps. Experts estimate that the design and functional features of the new equipment will make it possible to maintain the required reservoir pressure with a high degree of precision, constantly monitor reservoir development parameters, and make repairs less labor intensive thanks to the ability to pull downhole equipment out of the hole without removing the packer assembly.

Another advantage of the unit is that it can be operated in wells with an unsatisfactory gas-oil ratio and a high concentration of mechanical impurities.

An experimental specimen of the commingled production unit will be assembled and delivered for pilot commercial production already in the first half of 2014.
