Alnas plant, part of Rimera Group, has successfully completed pilot tests of its low-capacity ESP units at Rosneft-Yuganskneftegaz fields. The pumps were confirmed economically effective after the tests were completed.
The two units tested in RN-Yuganskneftegaz wells included energy-saving high-voltage 28kW electric submersible motors sized 117mm. The equipment ran for the stated operating time in normal mode and maintained its technical and power specifications causing no problems during the operation, and it continues to run in the RN-Yuganskneftegaz wells to this day now.
With the high-voltage electric submersible pumps running, the annual power consumption has gone down thus decreasing the specific power consumption per tonne of oil produced. Energy efficiency of the motors is made possible by raising the source voltage, which brings down the running current two or two-and-half times and reduces current losses along the cable line.
"Alnas equipment complete with high-voltage energy-saving electric submersible motors helps oil companies increase oil production efficiency by cutting down energy costs, which has been confirmed at the RN-Yuganskneftegaz fields. The motors have also proved to be economically effective during earlier tests in the Talovoye field of Tomskneft where they showed 17% power saving compared to the equipment used before", says Rimera's Research and Development Centre Director Sergey Sibirev.
Rimera Group is a division of ChelPipe, combining its assets in equipment and services for energy sector companies. The Group incorporates leading Russian petroleum engineering companies, top manufacturers of pipe bends and valves, well logging companies, and a network of service facilities across Russia's key oil-producing regions.
