Alnas, part of Rimera Group, has successfully completed pilot tests of new protectors in a Belkamneft well and received a go-ahead for batch production.
Protectors with a tight-band diaphragm GTMA5LDD UB were pilot-tested in Belkamneft's Arlanskoye field. The protectors had run failure-free for 241 days by the time a test report was being signed, which is 25% more than the expected figure (180 days). The equipment is still running at the same technical and power parameters. Client representatives have recommended the protector for batch production.
The key advantage of the new protector is a valve diaphragm which is more reliable compared to by-pass disk valves, particularly, when the operation is complicated by entrained solids.
"Alnas engineering center used a size 5 modular protector to develop two modifications of tight-band diaphragm protectors: GTMA5LDD UB and GTMA5L2DE UB. The latter was sent for batch production in August last year after successful tests in Lukoil-West Siberia wells. The new protectors were integrated to improve the quality and operating reliability of the equipment", says Rimera Group Research and Development Center Director Sergey Sibirev.
Rimera Group is a division of ChelPipe, combining its assets in equipment and services for energy sector companies. The Group incorporates leading Russian petroleum engineering companies, top manufacturers of pipe bends and valves, well logging companies, and a network of service facilities across Russia's key oil-producing regions.
