SPD has successfully put into operation a new scaling inhibitor injection system at West Salym field.

The new injection system made it possible to solve several important operations tasks. SPD will enhance dosage precision thanks to implementation of point-wise (individual) well dosage. This will lead to reduction of the number of breakdowns of electric submersible pumps (ESPs) through scaling on operating elements and as a consequence reduce the number of well workovers (WWOs) for replacement of failed ESPs. Reduction of the number of WWOs and improvement of chemical consumption supervision will make it possible to substantially reduce the company’s operating expenses.

The basis of the new inhibitor injection system is individual dosage pumps. Wells in the risk group for scaling are equipped with these. The pumps are controlled by pad controller which makes it possible to easily and reliably implement remote control functions while complying with all industrial and labour safety requirements.

The software is currently being adjusted which will make it possible to implement automatic dosage management and bottleneck identification algorithm which requires involvement of personnel. This system modification is being carried out within the scope of the Smart Fields concept implementation.

The novation has become possible through numerous innovations a great number of which was proposed by SPD specialists. These are the process solutions that made it possible to achieve the objectives set forth within the scope of the existing pad infrastructure and territorial restrictions. Until year end SPD is planning to implement this solution at 7+ pad sites.
