TATNEFT is implementing new proven and efficient technologies of wells construction including application of annulus swellable packers.

 

Water/oil annulus swellable packers are applied for zonal isolation and improving well casing quality. 40 production strings equipped with swellable packers of TAM Company were installed in the wells of TATNEFT in 2011.

 

TAM elastomer annulus packers swelling upon a contact with fluids are applied in the wells of all categories in terms of zonal isolation. Water swellable packers are set as part of the production string or non-cemented liner and serve for beds’ isolation and preventing water breakthrough during the process of wells completion and operation.

 

Swelling of the packers’ elastomer and blocking of formation fluids migration channels occur under the influence of formation fluids (water or crude oil).Packer rubber elements are capable of swelling at temperatures up to 575 F and withstanding a differential pressure of up to 9,000 psi.

 

Packers do not contain any movable parts and no special equipment is required for their setting.
