TNK-BP Implements an Intellectual Production Management System Companywide
23.05.2012
TNK-BP is getting ready for implementation of an oil production automated remote control system known as ‘Intellectual Field’, which has proven to be effective in West Siberia, across the entire company.
Since mid-2010 the Company has been applying intellectual control systems for managing artificial lift wells and monitoring operation parameters at the Samotlor field. It includes 6 thousand oil wells. The project is to be fully implemented in Samotlor by the end of 2013. This will allow stabilizing production at this brownfield.
Let’s recall that intellectual control system for oil production managing is the automated system that controls oil and gas production operations and performs continuous optimization of the integrated field model and production control model. This system should control the efficiency of operations management processes (oil/gas production, monitoring of production conditions and equipment status, supporting processes, etc.). It should also guarantee dynamic evolution of control model according to varied external and internal conditions.
German Khan, Executive Director of TNK-BP, said that the project would be available for TNK-BP subsidiaries in the Orenburg Region, Tyumen Oblast and East Siberia. ‘We will offer the Intellectual Field system with account of individual peculiarities of each subsidiary, its geography and objectives’, he was quoted as saying.
TNK-BP is Russia’s third largest oil company and is owned by BP and the AAR consortium (Alfa Group/Access Industries/Renova) on a parity basis. Additionally, TNK-BP owns approximately 50% of the Russian oil and gas company Slavneft. TNK-BP’s share in Russia’s oil production (including its share in Slavneft) is about 16%. The Company’s total proved SEC LOF reserves are 9.115 billion BOE as of December 31, 2011.
