Tomsk Polytechnic University and Gazpromneft-Vostok (a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft) will cooperate in the development of hard-to-recover oil reserves in the Tomsk region. The contract on the work was signed by TPU rector Petr Chubik and the company's CEO Viktor Misnik.
The contract is valid until December 31, 2022.
"Tomsk Polytechnic University is the first university in the Asian part of Russia, where training began. We were the first in the Urals who started to train geologists and oil workers. We have accumulated new competencies in recent years, we have a decent material base, "Chubik said at the signing ceremony.
The Tomsk region companies are interested not only in carbon stocks, but also in scientific potential, - Misnik noted.
"We carried out geological prospecting, found oil, but we do not know how to go forward, we will use the scientific potential of the Tomsk region," TASS quotes Victor Misnik.
As it was reported earlier, Gazprom Neft had launched a number of projects to develop hard-to-recover oil reserves in the Russian Federation, one of them - Paleozoi - in the Tomsk region within the Inotomsk project. Within the framework of the agreement, Tomsk polytechnics will develop technologies that will help to search for difficult oil deposits in the sediments of the pre-Jurassic complex, study the structure and evaluate the prospects of oil and gas potential.
