Belarusian oil got to know the North American experience in developing unconventional reserves. More precisely, the use of enhanced oil recovery methods for this. An American expert Todd Hoffman did a presentation on the subject. The meeting was organized in the format of the educational program of "Distinguished Lecturers" of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Hoffman analyzed how promising enhanced oil recovery technologies were introduced in unconventional reservoirs. First of all, in the oil and gas basins of North America: Bakken and Eagle Ford, where the pilot tests yielded the most significant results for their development. During the implementation of these projects, various injection fluids were tested, including miscible gas, water, and surfactants. One of the promising methods was the cyclic injection of natural gas. Today it is used in the large-scale development of the Eagle Ford field. The potential of such technologies is huge for other regions, the lecturer is convinced.
