Fracturing Technologies Diminishing The Risks Of Well Watering

01.10.2014

Fracturing process is one of the most demanded methods of production enhancement. Its success depends on many factors like the composition of the formation, the state of the well, the selected fracturing technologies, the quality of fracturing fluid. The laboratory of Industrial Chemistry Scientific and Educational Center at I. M. Gubkin Russian State Oil and Gas University developed a technology that brings down the risks of oil watering after production enhancement operations.

At present hydraulic fracturing is one of the most popular methods of production stimulation and enhanced oil recovery. The example of LUKOIL-Western Siberia shows that the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing has been proven over time – the number of operations has increased from year to year. Hydraulic fracturing was first used in the fields of LUKOIL-Western Siberia around two decades ago. Since then over 12 thousand jobs have been performed and the incremental oil production has exceeded 24 million tons.
