Oil Production from Water-Flooded Layer Using Water Tamping and Coiled Tubing

Often during casing perforation especially at night time, measurement of drilling pipes and formation depths is performed incorrectly due to human-factor aspect. Thus, the real depth is different and during well inflow stimulation fluid is produced from aquifer, so-called «newcomer». This aquifer is not considered in well construction design. This causes a lot of difficulties during further production.

The main negative effect of human error in depth measurement is the extraneous operation of water shut-off treatment that requires additional costs. Professionals are well-acquainted with a wide diversity of different methods to shut off water inflow in productive formation system.

Coiled tubing technologies are also one of these methods. This paper proposes one of methods to apply coiled tubing for the above-mentioned purposes. The proposed method is based on the creation of hydrodynamic load by coiled tubing and water tamping zones. These zones develop as a result of inflow restriction from the «newcomer» formation and oil-gas bubles floating up in the void between production tubing and coiled tubing.
